Courage to Keep Moving! by Alicia Briscoe
On the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, I found myself pondering on the courage he exemplified. I couldn’t help but think of the times he may have considered giving up the assignment he had on his life. I imagined he faced many challenges from people and circumstances that surrounded him. I believe it was his faith and knowing within that strengthen him to “keep moving”.
“Courage
is an inner resolution to go forward despite obstacles; Cowardice is submissive
surrender to circumstances. Courage breeds creativity: Cowardice represses fear
and is mastered by it”. – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
This quote
reassures us of God’s promise in 1 John 4:4 “He who is in you is greater than he who is
in the world.”.
This is good news! When the flesh is weak the spirit of God within us is
strong. It takes courage to stay the
course when everything around you may seem chaotic. Doubt is rising inside you
telling you to just forget it. You can’t
do it! If we are honest some of us are
currently feeling this way or have felt this at some point in our lives.
I believe
courage is a process that grows as we develop in Christ. So, to achieve the desired results in your
life you must keep going to keep growing!
It takes strength to continue when things just are not lining up for
you. The most important thing to remember when we are pursuing something is
that it must be in alignment with God and His word. No matter what, don’t lose heart, don’t shrink
back, or be afraid. Be strong and
courageous and watch how God works it out as you keep moving!
“If you
can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl,
but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward”. – Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr.
