Take Captive Those Thoughts by Milo Briscoe

2 Corinthians 10:2b bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ NKJV.

As we close out the month on the word resurrection, I want to give a different perspective from what my wife and I have shared previously.

In this chapter Paul is talking about spiritual warfare and how we do not fight against flesh and blood enemies. He tells us that the weapons we use for the war are not carnal, but mighty in God. Then he tells us what there used for; pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. But here’s what I want to get to, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

What are those thoughts that keep trying to resurrect themselves, or maybe you resurrect? We need to understand, what we meditate on, the things we allow to consume our thoughts, is what we will become. For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7 NKJV.

As for me, when those thoughts come, I must immediately think on God’s Word to counter them. Remember when Jesus was tempted by the devil in Matthew 4? What did He do? He quoted the Word. That’s bringing that thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. The Word of God is a powerful weapon in spiritual warfare.

What we need to understand is, we can’t stop the thoughts from coming, but we have the ability and the weapon to cast it down when it tries to resurrect itself. Moving forward, every time that thought comes, we must crush it with the Word of God. Amen!

Prayer: Father, thank you for giving us the strategy and the weapon to win spiritual battles. Help us to use them according to Your instructions. In Jesus Name, Amen.
