AOL – Abundant Overflow Living by Alicia Briscoe

Image
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Ephesians 3:20 Do you believe God wants us to live in abundance? Do you believe there is an overflow of abundance available to you? The answer is a resounding YES! According to 2 CORINTHIANS 1:20 “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” All throughout scripture it talks about abundance and the overflow that is available to us. It doesn’t just limit abundance to our finances, but it overflows into all areas of our lives like Health (3 John 1:2), Peace (Matthew 6:33-34), and Growth (Psalm 115:14). We are often distracted by what we see which limits us to our own ability oppose to accessing the ability that is available to us in God. I believe we must be intentional about setting our minds to align with what God says. Ultimately having the mind of Christ with a more positive and optimistic perspecti...

You Already Have an Abundance by Milo Briscoe

One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out, “My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the Lord. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.” “What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied. And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.” So, she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing. When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the oliv...

Abundance or Scarcity Mindset by Alicia Briscoe

Image
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2   Do you have an abundance mindset or a scarcity mindset? I know people who fall into either one or sometimes both categories. A mindset simply means to set your mind, on how you think and your point of view. Scarcity means not enough or short supply, limited. Abundance is means more than enough or plentiful. An abundance mindset is having more than enough, overflow so you give. A scarcity mindset is not having enough, so you end up holding on to the little you have. Lately, I’ve been challenged with a scarcity mindset. I feel like I don’t have enough time, enough energy, enough resources in the day to get things done. This kind of mindset obstructs my view of seeing past my belief system. It makes me feel trapped, it hinders my faith, and creates strongholds. The bible refers to strongholds as our own debilitating beliefs that the enemy uses to work against us. We have the power ...

The Abundant Life – by Milo Briscoe

Image
I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. John 10:10b AMP. What do you think of when you hear the word abundance? Dictionary.com states it as, an extremely plentiful or over sufficient quantity or supply. The word “abundant” in the Greek is perisson, meaning “exceedingly, very highly, beyond measure, more, superfluous, a quantity so abundant as to be considerably more than what one would expect or anticipate.” I remember when I first read the verse of scripture, I thought Jesus was talking about Heaven. So, I thought “great, when I get to heaven, I’m going to have this abundant life.” But, as I grew in my understanding of the Word, I realized He was talking about here, on earth. What kind of King of Kings and Lord of Lords would put His children in a place where they could not live abundantly? That is not my Heavenly Father. He tells us to “be fruitful and multiply,” Genesis 1:22.   He says, “let them have dominion”, Ge...

Freedom of Choice – by Alicia Briscoe

Image
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Deuteronomy 30:19-20   As we conclude this month’s fruitful thought on “Freedom” I believe we can all agree that freedom begins with a choice. The choices we make comes from our thoughts; how we view things and our perspective. Although we are created in the likeness and image of God our minds reflect what we exposed it to. That is why the bible says in Romans 12:2 “ be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Although we all are called to be free some of us have yet to experience a life of freedom. I believe to experience true freedom living we must renew our mind so our choices...

Free In My Identity Part 2 – Milo Briscoe

Image
Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything? But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. 1 Corinthians 12:14-18 NLT A couple of weeks ago I wrote about being free in my identity. I shared my challenges from my childhood to my adult life not knowing my who I was, emulating others I want to be. Never being free of who God created me to be. I want to share how even as I started to discover my identity when I gave my life to Christ, I still struggled. I was saved, in church every Sunday, going to mid-week service, even active in ministry and still felt out of place. I did n...

Break Free of Insecurity – by Alicia Briscoe

Image
Trust in the  Lord  with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 This scripture is extremely popular and is quoted a lot. I wonder how many of us realize that we need to take heed to it. I believe God has given us keys throughout scripture to escape and break free from sin. This is one of those keys to breaking free of insecurity. To break free of something you must acknowledge it and its bondage. According to the dictionary “Insecurity” is defined as uncertainty or anxiety about oneself, lack of confidence. The bible defines “Insecurity” as lacking confidence or assurance, self-doubt. Insecurity is also a sin because it is rooted in fear. Fear of rejection, and fear of what others think of you. Fear is a spirit and a sin. It did not come from God, and it is against what he commanded us to obey. (2 Timothy 1:7 & Isaiah 35:4) I defined insecurity as listening or thinking you are not worthy, loved, or enough; questioning your value ...
